The Ceremony
The ceremony took place at our church, Trinity Evangelical Free Church, in South Bend. It was the church that I (the bride) attended for youth group as a child, was baptized in as a teenager, and attended after college. We now attend together, though we have moved out of town. It was a traditional protestant service. One of the more unique aspects of the service was the ring blessing ceremony, where our rings were passed around through the bridal party and the first few rows of family to where they could say a brief prayer or blessing over the rings.
Music was a very important aspect of our ceremony, seeing we are both music teachers. We had an organist/pianist, two trumpeters, and two vocalists, almost all who were friends and colleagues. In front of the altar was a picture and candle in memory of my husband's mother, who passed away when he was a child. On the altar was our flower arrangements, unity candle, communion cup and plate, marriage license, God's knot, roses for the mothers and ring bowl.
DIY projects from the ceremony include the ring bearer's bowl/plate, the flower girl basket (which is not shown per the mother's request), quaker style marriage certificate (in lieu of a guest book), programs, pew cones, altar flowers and unity candle.
Music
Entrance of the Parents--Tristesse by Chopin
Entrance of the Bridal Party--Gabriel's Oboe by Enrique Morriccone
Bridal Entrance--St. Anthony's Chorale by Haydn
Ring Warming Ceremony--The Prayer by David Foster
Congregational Hymn (unity candle, first communion, signing marriage license, and giving roses to mothers)--When Love Is Found by Brian Wren (Tune: O Waly Waly)
Recessional--Brahm's First Symphony Mov't 4 main theme (commissioned organ arrangement)
